Responsive Templates
There are a lot of users out there who use their mobile devices to check out web pages. Web pages have traditionally been designed for the desktop that have large screens compared to mobile devices. Thus, web pages have to be designed with the small screen of the mobile user in mind. We can create webpages that fit on both screen sizes without creating two entirely separate sites. This is called Responsive Design.
If you wish to publish a mobile compatible site, you will need to publish your site first, then follow the steps below.
You can access templates which allow you to utilize responsive design by going to Style > Styles > Recommended.
- Hover over the Publish button within the SiteBuilder and click the Configure link next to "Mobile Phone Publishing.”
- Click Enhanced Mobile Styles (Responsive Web Design)
- Click Save.
- Republish your site.
Now you have a mobile friendly site!
If you aren't sure that it worked, Google has created a test allowing website owners to verify that their sites are mobile-friendly. Here's how to check your site:
- Publish your site with the responsive enhancements.
- Go to the Mobile-Friendly Test page.
- Enter your webpage URL (ex: mysite.com)
- Click Analyze.
You'll see the message "Awesome! This page is mobile-friendly."
Note that mobile phone support is limited to Premium, eCommerce, or SEO accounts.
